Dear St. Clement’s Family,

Gung Hee Fat Choy!  The tiger is said to be a vivid, engaging, lively, extremely brave and lucky animal.  It’s also said that having a tiger in the house is the best protection against the evils.  Though we may not have a tiger in our homes, may this be an auspicious year for all!

Mahalo for taking the time to respond to our Family Survey.  Our return rate was 86%.  The questions on the survey rated the areas of relationships, curriculum, teaching, assessment of child progress, health, teachers, families, community relationships, physical environment, leadership and management.  Your responses showed great satisfaction in nearly all areas, the highest being in our teaching, good relationships with teachers and staff, feeling respected and welcomed by the program staff, satisfaction and trust that your children are well taken care of at school, and satisfaction with administration and management of the program.  Particular questions that appear to need attention are the one on talking with the teacher about your child at least  once a week, and receiving information about findings after the program evaluation.  We review the findings and do try to improve each year.  Thank you for being a part of this process.

An assessment of our traffic situation shows that the double lane entry onto campus has helped tremendously to alleviate the backup on Makiki Street.  Though we cannot control the jam that occurs periodically on Punahou Street, it’s still better than in the past.  Thank you for your cooperation and attention that has brought about this improvement.

We are fast moving into the next season and our children are continuing to develop at a rapid pace.  Separation anxieties are by and large gone.  The occasional tears usually are explained to when the children say that the extra hug was not given or received, mom or dad will be away from home for a while, or some sharing was forgotten at home.  Once on campus, these tears stop. Our days start beautifully with happy children and cheery greetings from children and adults.

Weather permitting, we will be having our Chapel Services in the Cooke Building courtyard while the new organ is being installed in the church.  Please feel free to join us there.

Please be sure to mark your calendars for School and Parish Workday on Saturday, March 6th, Spring Recess Marsh 22nd through 26th, and our Easter Food Drive on Wednesday, March 31st.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation that energize all of us at St. Clement’s School.

Sincerely,

 Patsy M. Izumo, Director
