Philosophy

St. Clement’s School was founded in September 1949 by the Parish of St. Clement as an outreach program for the community.  The belief was that preschool children should have an opportunity to play and interact with children their own age and with adults outside the home environment.

Through constant effort and self-evaluation a program has evolved that promotes:

EAGERNESS FOR LIFE AND LEARNING by providing many experiences,

both cognitive and affective to stimulate inquisitive and active minds.

BODY AWARENESS AND COORDINATION through activities designed

to increase skills in gross and fine motor development.

RESPONSIBILITY AND CITIZENSHIP through group interactions that

provide many opportunities for helping, sharing, and learning consideration

and respect for the property and rights of others.

ENJOYMENT OF PLAY AND CREATIVE EXPRESSION by encouraging

a sense of freedom and to express ideas through art, music and drama.

LOVE OF GOD AND HIS CREATION by attending chapel services where

in prayer, song and story, our Lord becomes a familiar part of our children’s

lives.

The emphasis is on helping children develop into confident, secure individuals who will be eager to learn, considerate of their classmates, respectful towards adults, and always striving to rise to their maximum potential.
