Interviews

All Preschool applicants who meet the December deadlines are interviewed in January or early February.  Personal interviews are conducted for all grade levels.  Preschool 4 and Kindergarten applicants are also observed in small group activities.  An interview team evaluates the applicant’s developmental readiness demonstrated during the observation periods.  This includes social-emotional behavior, verbal ability, comprehension, and cooperation.

Acceptance

Applicants who appear to be developmentally ready participate in the random drawing to fill available spaces determined by student-teacher ratio and gender balance.  After the initial drawing, others who were deemed developmentally ready may be placed in a wait pool.  Replacements from the wait pool

may be made at any time prior to the first day of school.

Priority Status

Priority status becomes effective only after interviews are completed and the applicant is deemed developmentally ready.  Priority is accorded to:

  • A child with siblings who have attended within the past five years or are attending

St. Clement’s School.

  • Children of active members of the Parish of St. ClementParents must request written

confirmation from the Parish Rector.
